Adobe are a prolific software developer, specialising in creative productivity software for the PC and Mac platforms.
Probably best known for their Adobe PDF (electronic document format), Adobe Photoshop (image editing) and Adobe Premiere (film editing).
Adobe recently (2006?) acquired Macromedia, adding Dreamweaver (web design), Flash (vector animation & GUI), Director (multimedia authoring) and several other leading productivity applications.
Adobe also took over Cool Edit Pro (a sound editing application) and expanded it in to the multitrack editor Adobe Audition.

Steve Jobs is a legendary Apple CEO, who also has interested in Dreamworks (film production) and Disney (children’s entertainment).
Apple computers were originally Motorola CPU (last version the PowerPC) based and ran their own Operating System (OS) up to OS 9 / OS X.
A conversion over to Intel CPU based hardware, has necessitated OS X applications which support the Intel core named “Universal Binary”. Not all applications have been converted to Universal Binary yet (still).
